Why is gymnastics beneficial for children?

Gymnastics offers many benefits for children. Starting with our Parent & Tot class toddlers will work on motor skills, hand eye coordination, and balance. The children will be having fun while doing physical and learning activities.  As the child gets older, they will work on harder skills, while still having fun and developing life lasting social skills.

Childhood obesity is a growing epidemic in our country. Starting children in gymnastics as a child will get them moving now and hopefully develop a love for exercise as they grow into an adult.  Livestrong.com says children need at least 60 minutes of exercise almost each day. Classes at IGM start at 45 minutes.  What a great way to get in the exercise!

Gymnastics is also a beneficial step when doing other sports. If a child takes gymnastics, then chooses to do football, hockey, dance, or soccer the child will be at an advantage already having learned hand eye coordination, agility, balance, understanding of movement and strength.
